Ingredients:
Carmelized Onions
2 T. butter
1 T. brown sugar
2 large yellow onions,
sliced
into
¼” rings
Dash of salt

Assembly
2 t. dried sage leaves or several fresh sage leaves, chopped
½ cup butter
Garlic cloves, sliced in half
Salt
Gorgonzola cheese
Sliced baguettes |
Directions:
Caramelized Onions:
Melt butter in large saucepan over medium high heat. Add onions and sprinkle with brown sugar and salt. When onions begin to soften, reduce heat to medium low, continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are amber colored and caramelized- about 20 minutes. Caramelized onions can be used immediately or stored in an airtight container and refrigerated until ready to use. Heat before using.
Assembly:
Melt butter and sage leaves together, heat on low until sage flavors butter. Rub garlic cloves on baguette slices, brush melted butter mixture on baguette slices. Sprinkle with salt. Toast. Layer warm caramelized onions on baguette slices. Top with small pieces of gorgonzola. Serve immediately.
